Carolinas flooding as Tropical Storm Nicole hits

Tropical Storm Nicole just lately passed through the Caribbean, flooding Cuba and causing the recent Jamaica mudslides. The remains of the storm are hitting the United States. North and South Carolina flooding has already begun. A state of emergency has been declared in NC. There are flood warnings in effect from the Carolinas to Maine. Tornados are also very possible, and being viewed for closely. So far, the 2010 hurricane season has been somewhat light on the mainland. These are probably the most significant effects felt thus far.

Carolina floods

The governor of North Carolina, Beverly Purdue, has declared a state of emergency, according to CNN. Jamaica and Cuba have finished seeing Tropical Storm Nicole that is now hitting the U.S. coast. Mudslides in Jamaica killed two individuals after being cause by the storm. The state received over a foot of rain in three days, and flooding has started. The East Coast is expected to get more rain. Saturday October 2 we’ll see at least another 8 inches fall. North Carolina has a place called Wilmington that has already seen lots of rain. Up to 15 inches has fallen there. It is almost extremely hard to use any roads there.

Waiting to see more tornados

There is a strong possibility of a tornado breaking out someplace on the East Coast due to Tropical Storm Nicole. New Jersey has begun a tornado watch. Evidently everywhere from Carolina to Maryland is watching and hoping nothing happens. There is a tornado warning and a flash flood warning in effect for Washington D.C. also, according to ABC. Every person in New York is worried the subway system could get flooded if New York sees flooding.

There is still additional season

The end of November is when people can stop to worry about the 2010 hurricane time of year. So far, the U.S. impact has been mercifully light compared with past years. the country was afraid for Hurricane Igor and Hurricane Earl to hit. They ended up having a little rain and being fairly mild. By the time Sunday night has passed, Tropical Storm Nicole could be gone.
