Hulu Plus not the end of Hulu
On its website, the company said “Hulu Plus is not a replacement for Hulu — it’s something new”. Mobile phones or Internet-connected devices like video game consoles, Blu-ray players or even certain HDTVs aren’t at the moment supported by Hulu. But PC World reports that Hulu Plus will work with PCs and Macs; via an app for Apple’s iPad, iPhone (3GS and 4), and iPod Touch (third-generation) platforms; and via the Samsung Apps platform on 2010 Samsung connected devices (including Blu-ray players, Blu-ray Home Theater systems, and TVs.
Broader content offerings on Hulu Plus
The handful of episodes from a show that you are able to watch on standard Hulu—before they’re pulled—will still be free. But CNN reports that for a ten buck monthly subscription, Hulu Plus lets you view the entire current season’s episodes of Fox, ABC and NBC shows. It may also show all of the past seasons of many hit shows like the “X Files,” “The Office” and “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Can Hulu Plus compete with Netflix streaming
The ability of Hulu Plus to compete with Netflix streaming is questioned by Rick Broida at CNET. He points out that Netflix already has an app on the iPad and will have an app soon for the iPhone. Netflix DVDs by mail, along with unlimited streaming, is $ 9 a month. A much larger movie selection is accessible from Netflix, along with a lot of TV shows. Broida says Hulu Plus’ only real edge is that it delivers the latest episodes of preferred shows. You have to wait until a couple of months after an entire season runs its course to look at a show on Netflix.
